Spidey fans can take advantage of deals on all three Spider-Man games for PS5 during PlayStation’s Days of Play promotion. Collector’s Edition PS5 games and DualSense controllers are discounted in PlayStation Direct’s Black Friday sale. Harry reunited with Peter and Mary Jane early in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, apparently cured of his terminal condition and ready to use his family’s resources to change the world.
It’s mashed together with an uncharacteristically large-scale invasion of New York by Kraven the Hunter (seeking worthy super-powered prey) and a tangle of other subplots and returning villains. The plot points are outlandish, the themes muddy, and Miles doesn’t really have enough to do. None of that’s necessarily a dealbreaker, though—the real problem is the characters. Wield Peter’s new symbiote abilities and Miles’ explosive bio-electric venom powers, and discover upgradeable, high-tech equipment that enhances the combat experience for extensive gameplay depth and variety. Just as it has with other PC ports, PlayStation partnered again with Nixxes Software to bring Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 over to Steam and the Epic Games Store.
During PlayStation’s September 2023 State of Play, Insomniac showcased a closer look at Marvel’s New York. Senior Creative Director Bryan Intihar noted that this version of New York is nearly twice the size of the original game, thanks to the addition of the Queens and Brooklyn boroughs. As we get closer to the game’s launch, more and more details are releasing and we now know quite a bit about the game. Here’s everything there is to know about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 so far. Classic Suit
They can use aerodynamic tunnels scattered throughout New York to do so. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 stars Peter Parker and Miles Morales, facing off against three iconic Spider-Man villains. The first is Kraven the Hunter (Sergey Kravenoff), who arrives to New York alongside his gang to hunt who he perceives to be a worthy opponent. Said prey is the Lizard (Dr. Curt Connors), the second villain of the game, who Peter and Miles have to save from Kraven’s hunters. The pair does not work together as well as they used to, as Miles notices his older colleague gradually change.
Peter now has metallic claw-like arms, but their effectiveness is lower than Morales’ abilities. Peter’s combat system changes with the appearance of the symbiote, adding spectacular and dangerous abilities. There are towers, suit collections, hideout searches, time trials, photo sessions, crime fighting, city residents with their quests, and even random events. However, the main task of the city is to serve as a grand backdrop for the plot.
In its Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PC blog post, for instance, Sony highlights, “new raytracing options with individual quality settings to finetune performance and fidelity across a broad range of hardware configurations”. There’s also talk of settings for raytraced interiors, shadows, and ambient occlusion – adding what Sony calls “an additional layer of believability with realistic shadows and increased depth to the game”. The gameplay itself should remain unchanged from the PS5 version, just with more graphic options, and will be better looking for the most part. While the format might be different, this should still be the amazing Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 experience we all know and love. Two suits in Spider-Man 2 can be acquired only through the March 7, 2024 DLC, “The Fly N’ Fresh Suit Pack,” which includes the Fly Suit for Peter and the Fresh Suit for Miles.
There are a few cool explorable locations like the Emily-May Foundation and Coney Island, but the rest is just a blob of boring buildings. Venom isn’t around long enough either, especially for the impact they act like he had on the city, but it just about made all the waiting worth it. Especially with the added personal connection between Spider-Man and Venom, really highlighting Venom as the dark mirror of Peter. It takes a very long time for Venom to show up, some would say too long, but he steals the show the second he does.
Brooklyn Visions
It’s a great starting point that sends the city’s hero and villain dynamic into flux as he sets his sights on the biggest prey possible. I am directly reviewing this game in comparison to marvels spiderman and the miles morales game only. Everything about this game aside from web wings mechanic was a downgrade. The game should have had coop, switching between miles and peters feels pointless and unless you are doing a specific mission for them switching feels pointless. Very few side quests in the game and the few you do have are fetch quests with no impact to the story.
Everything he does is intimidating, and you feel the power behind every movement. Thanks in no small part to the fact that you get to play as him for a stretch. Hopes were high when the teasers at the end of both Spider-Man and Miles Morales teased the arrival of Venom. And, thankfully, it’s the only part of the story they actually did well. Using it to tell a tragic tale of two friends, instead of the more standard Eddie Brock story.
While Peter rescues civilians, he is assisted by a super-powered Harry, who learns about Peter’s double life. Harry reveals that, on his father Norman Osborn’s insistence, he was cured by Curt Connors via a powerful organic exosuit that physically augments his body. With the exosuit’s powers rapidly developing, Harry helps Peter rescue Tombstone while Mary Jane discovers that Kraven has kidnapped Connors. The trio attempt to save Connors, but Kraven forcibly turns him back into the Lizard, steals the serum needed to transform him back and mortally wounds Peter.
But you can play as both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, switching between the heroic Spider-Men on your crime-fighting adventures to experience their individual gameplay abilities and story elements. Discussions regarding a proper sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man began during the game’s development, with open story threads for future titles being teased across both it and Miles Morales. Jim Pirri and Tony Todd join the cast as the voices of Kraven and Venom, respectively. In the meantime, the PC release of Spider-Man 2 will inevitably spark a modding scene that may see fan creations extend the life of the game beyond its first year. Perhaps PC modders will get Venom fully playable, as PS5 players found a way to do last year before Insomniac patched the exploit out.

The majority of the side activities wind up feeling both mechanically and narratively pointless. An electric bike race feels silly enough in a Spider-Man game, but when the stakes are just “I need someone to try out my electric bike”, it’s hard not to think Miles and Peter have more pressing stuff to be getting on with. Far too much of what you’re doing feels like padding from the early days of open world games—there’s more inspiration here from Crackdown than there is from GTA V.
