They’re simple, dependable classes — most everyone will go with the Knight. Beneath the makeover this Demon’s Souls does remain impressively faithful to the original, retaining all of the tics and quirks. The original Demon’s Souls was developed by FromSoftware, but it was published by Sony exclusively for the PlayStation 3. Sony owns the Demon’s Souls IP and published the 2020 remake developed by Bluepoint Games. This creates a unique situation where Sony owns the IP, but FromSoftware owns the creative DNA (combat systems, world-building style, etc). Really, the only reason I can find that you shouldn’t buy Demon’s Souls is that you need to have a PS5 first, so if you’re still trying to buy one, you may be waiting a month or four.

Polygon recently spoke with the game’s creative director, Gavin Moore, who is overseeing the project at Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios.
